Today is International Women’s Day. I’ve spent some of today puzzling over why the Idaho Women’s Commission is about to get its state appropriation slashed by 20% from last year. The governor’s request called for an increase in funding. Since minutes from JFAC (the Idaho legislature’s budget-setting committee) are not available online for some reason, I can’t track down what went on in its hearing on the IWC. The Commission puts out what is, as far as I’m aware, the most thorough public legal education material on Idaho law (though this guide’s layout and plain language are a far cry from what I’ve gotten used to here in Canada).
